Adam Gravel

Co–Founder | Managing Director | President

Born in Barbados, raised in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and educated in Canada, Adam’s dream is to replace whaling with an economically viable and environmentally sustainable alternative that will benefit both the whales and the whalers. His role as Managing Director is to lead the team in the pursuit of the organization’s goals.

Tristan Hornsey

Managing Partner | Director of Operations | Vice-President

Tristan Hornsey is the Director of Operations and the Vice President of SalvageBlue. He was born in England and grew up in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He has a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and can fix just about anything. He and his beautiful wife currently run a landscaping company with an affinity for preserving wild spaces. As our Vice President and Director of Operations, Tristan oversees just about everything.

Daniela Chalbaud

Co-Founder | Managing Partner | Project Developer

From Caracas, Venezuela, Daniela Chalbaud is a co-founder of SalvageBlue and named the organization after a quote by Jacques Cousteau. She is the winner of the 2012 Miss Intercontinental Beauty Pageant and an internationally recognized fashion model. Daniela’s passions are diverse, though her main vocation is creating sustainable clothing from biodegradable and recycled materials. She has been the face of many charitable campaigns and uses her beauty to bring awareness to ugly situations. She is an avid swimmer and kite surfer and has a deep love for the sea.

Andrew Joachim

Managing Partner | Director of Logistics

Andrew is a Divemaster and Bareboat Skipper. He’s worked in and on the sea for over a decade. He is currently the quality control manager at one of St. Vincent’s premier yacht charter companies and lives with his wife and daughter on a top of a mountain overlooking the sea.

James Walker

Managing Partner | Director of Expeditions

Born in Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, James has a unique knowledge of the entire marine area that comprises the 32 island chain. He is an experienced boat handler and a Master Scuba Diver Trainer with just under two decades of experience, making him the most qualified diver on our team, which is why he is our Director of Expeditions. James’s main responsibility is keeping the rest of us safe when working in the sea. When he is not leading an expedition for Salvage Blue, he is working as a diver instructor or restoring coral reefs in Mustique.

Victoria Woodward

Managing Partner | Director of Photography

Originally from Liverpool, England, Victoria moved to St. Vincent and the Grenadines after graduating from Richmond Vale Academy where she studied Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Compliance, and Fighting for the Poor. She is a professional artist and photographer and her work has been featured in galleries across England.

Nikola Simpson

Managing Partner | Marine Biologist

Born and bred in Barbados, a water baby from birth, Nikola has made exploring and conserving the ocean her career and life’s purpose. She has a Bachelors of Science from the University of Guelph, and a Masters of Science from the University of the West Indies. Nikola has worked with many reputable local and international conservation organizations such as The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. She is currently working to promote sustainable fisheries in the Caribbean region, but her true passion lies in protecting marine mammals. Nikola is a PADI Open Water Diver, an Advanced Wilderness First Aid Responder, a Fisherwoman, and a small motor vessel operator.

Nikola sits on the board of directors for both SalvageBlue and Slow Food Barbados.

James Ward


A Barbadian/Vincentian national, James Ward is a consultant currently working in Saint Lucia in the hospitality industry. He has a Masters in Business Administration from The University of the West Indies, Cavehill, in Barbados. He is a co-founder of SalvageBlue and was instrumental in laying the organization’s  foundation.
