Hope Spots

I wish you would use all means at your disposal—films, expeditions, the web, new submarines—to create a campaign to ignite public support for a global network of marine protected areas; Hope Spots large enough to save and restore the blue heart of the planet.

– Sylvia Earle

St. Vincent and the Grenadines was designated a Mission Blue Hope Spot at the IUCN Congress in Hawaii by Dr. Sylvia A. Earle on September 9, 2016.

Hope Spots are special marine areas that have been rigorously vetted by scientists and declared by the IUCN as absolutely critical to the health of the ocean – the Earth’s blue heart.
